STAND UP

In December 2019 David made his stand-up comedy debut, in front of over 350 people at Bowlers Exhibition Centre as part of a charity show, raising money for Cancer Research UK. In the lead up to this there was an 8 week training course. David raised over £1,000 for charity and his 5 minute set was well received.

David very much got the stand-up bug on that back of this and throughout the first few months of 2020 David appeared at a number of open mic nights to hone and polish his set, whilst writing new material. The highlight of this was in fulfilling an ambition to appear on stage at the world famous Comedy Store as part of their King Gong show.

In March 2020 David was scheduled to appear at the Frog and Bucket, XS Malarkey and, as part of a new comedian’s night, at the Comedy Store Manchester, but unfortunately the UK Coronavirus lockdown put paid to these appearances. He did however take part in the Comedy Store London’s first ever live online King Gong show.

During the Coronavirus pandemic David teamed up with Facebook group The Virtual Tavern and put together a series of comedy nights, where he acted as MC and also used the events to showcase new material. The events were a success with each one having over 2,000 views. This was a learning experience in recording material to camera, with no audience reaction or involvement. For each show David brought the line up together as the event promoter. This has led to opportunities to do this in ‘real life’ once normality resumes.

David made it to the final 60 of the New Online UK Comedian of the Year award in August 2020, narrowly missing out on a place in the final! Also in August 2020 he returned to the Comedy Store’s online King Gong competition, hosted by Justin Moorhouse, here he made it to the final, finishing second. He switched to comedy MC duties and hosted a live streamed comedy night in support of the Sickle Cell Society from the Manchester Lounge.

In September 2020 the UK briefly opened up it’s stages and David progressed to a 10 minute set at the Laughienda Comedy Club in Manchester. He also fulfilled a long held ambition by performing at the Frog and Bucket Comedy Club, where he took on Beat The Frog. David did indeed Beat The Frog, getting through to the final on the evening. Again, the second UK lockdown put paid to bookings in both November and December 2020, however David is excited for what 2021 could hold with new material and a 10 minute set ready to go!

“We’ve used Broady for all of our sportsman’s dinners at Dukinfield Rugby Club and wouldn’t use anyone else for any other event we needed hosting.

He is Professional, polite, funny and a genuinely top bloke all round. He Keeps the night flowing brilliantly without any hassle and can easily deal with any issues that may crop up both on and prior to the night happening without any problems. Would 100% recommend!”

I booked David for a Royal Ascot Ladies Day event in 2019. This was a charity fundraising event taking place over a number of hours. He was a consummate professional, funny, engaging and very quickly put 130 ladies at ease, and they listened to his every word. David encouraged everyone in the room to support all the raffles, horse racing and auctions to help support the fundraising for the Charity.

Comments from the ladies were “He is very good” “Can you book him again next year” “Why have we not had him before”. We have already booked David for next year and we will be using him for all our other events that require a host.

We have worked with Broady on Bust Rallies every year since our inception in 2013. With each rally attracting up to 80 cars and 300 people we need a strong host who can deliver important safety information but in a good humoured style, who is also capable of hosting our final night presentation and celebration party. David ticks every box for us, we very much recommend his services and have already booked him for all our 2020 and 2021 events.
